What Clean Beauty Actually Means and Why Bree Started GlowByBree

Clean beauty gets thrown around a lot right now. On labels, in hashtags, in store names. And because it is everywhere, it has started to lose meaning. Some brands use it to mean natural. Others use it to mean non-toxic. Others use it as pure marketing with nothing behind it.

I started GlowByBree because I wanted something real. Not a label. Not a marketing position. An actual standard. So let me tell you what clean beauty means to me and why I built this brand around it.

What Clean Does Not Mean

Clean beauty does not mean all-natural or chemical-free. Everything is a chemical. Water is a chemical. Vitamin C is a chemical. The idea that synthetic automatically means bad and natural automatically means safe is one of the biggest myths in the beauty industry. Poison ivy is natural. Lead is natural. Neither belongs on your face.

Clean beauty is also not about fear. I do not want you to be afraid of your moisturizer. Fear-based marketing is manipulation, and you deserve better than that.

What Clean Beauty Actually Means to Me

Clean beauty, the way I define it and the way GlowByBree operates, is about intentional formulation. Every ingredient in a product should be there for a reason, should be safe at the concentration it is used, and should be transparently disclosed.

• No ingredients with credible safety concerns at normal use levels. This includes parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, certain synthetic fragrances, oxybenzone, and others with demonstrated endocrine disruption or bioaccumulation concerns in peer-reviewed research.
• Full ingredient transparency. No hiding things in fragrance when that term can legally contain hundreds of undisclosed chemicals.
• Efficacy is not optional. Clean does not mean it does not work. The products I carry have to perform.
• Sustainable and ethical sourcing matters. Clean extends beyond the formula to how ingredients are sourced and whether animal testing is involved.

Why I Started GlowByBree

I kept running into the same problem: the products that worked often had ingredients I did not feel good about. The products with clean ingredient lists often did not perform. I did not think you should have to choose. So I set out to find and share products that do not make you compromise.

That is what GlowByBree is. Not a trend. Not a vibe. A standard.

How to Read a Label

• Ingredients are listed in descending order by concentration. The first five ingredients make up the vast majority of the formula.
• Fragrance or parfum on a label means the brand has chosen not to disclose what creates the scent.
• If a brand is proud of what is in their products, they make it easy to find.
